Good news for some individuals who haven’t received their stimulus checks…Or were paid to little. IRS will be able to correct amounts in certain cases. It is creating processes to help some people who were due an economic impact payment but never got it or received an incorrect amount. For example, identity theft victims, innocent spouses and filers of returns with math errors can work with the service to resolve the underlying issue before getting their stimulus payments adjusted. Also, IRS is bringing on more workers to answer stimulus payment queries. It is hiring about 5,000 employees to help with the backlog of emails and calls.

One group that needs to act soon are recipients of federal benefits… Such as social security, veterans pensions and supplemental security income…Who didn’t file a federal tax return for 2018 or 2019, and who have minor children. They can use the non-filers tool on IR’S website to enter information about dependent children under age 17 for whom they haven’t got the extra $500.
