Breaking Update #2: IRS Is Sending Up To $1,400 to 1 Million Americans

The IRS is reviewing internal data, and will be sending out the $1,400 stimulus payment to taxpayers they say were eligible, but have not received it.  The original name for this was the Economic Impact Payment (EIP).  The unreceived amounts were claimed on the 2020 and 2021 tax returns as the Recovery Rebate Credit (RRC).  This third round of stimulus was paid out in 2021 in the amount of $1,400.  If your income was above certain amounts, the payment was phased out.  Based on this, you may have only received a portion of the $1,400 for each eligible person claimed on your tax return.

Eligible taxpayers should receive these payments by late January, 2025.  If your bank account that received direct deposits has been closed, the IRS should automatically mail you a check upon receiving notification from your banking institution.
